My Social Philosophy in Life
MY SOCIAL PHILOSOPHY IN LIFE
by: EMMA LOU Z. REGALADO
Personally, I am blessed to have this opportunity to study
and work at the same time. But I tell you, it is not an easy task everyday for
it requires a lot of time, patience and enthusiasm. Every day is a challenge
day and a “matter of consequence” like most grown-ups quoted in the story of
The Little Prince by Antoine Saint- Exupery. Yes, I can consider myself as
grown-up by age but not yet in my profession. Tedious it may be for me to
juggle between work and school, I am determined to reach my dream of being a
professional educator and be productive in my career. Social discrimination
drove me to pursue my course of study not only to earn a degree but also to be
a useful citizen of our country. I observed that a person who has
extensive education or have earned a degree is peculiar above those who have
earned only a little education, the way he/she talks tells of how learned
he/she is. Teaching profession provides enormous training, seminars and
studies that is why of all profession, teachers are the well-respected ones.
They believed that the teacher can do everything. Teachers are esteemed high
and are respected in all walks of life, they are always looked up to as our
second parent who are there to teach us not only classroom lessons but also
practical lessons in life that will help us who we want us to be in the future
time.
Teaching is not my first choice. I took up Hotel and Restaurant Management and have already worked in the hospitality industry like hotels in Iloilo City and Boracay Island. It was the fast- earning profession with fixed salary, service charge, tips and incentives. My experiences taught me how to deal with different people, solve problems immediately and handle complaints. It was both exciting and challenging at the same time. I was given the chance to develop my character and brought out the best in me and improved my communication skills. But truly people are always looking for something such as stability and contentment. Something that where your heart truly belong and that is teaching profession. My experiences and trainings in the fast- paced industry of hotels made me to choose teaching profession. Perhaps, that is the reason why I am facing the challenges of becoming an educator from the very-outgoing profession to the noble one. It is a broad profession to manage because you need a lot of things to consider intellectually, morally, emotionally and physically. Others might say, “You cannot be a rich man for being a teacher and it will only make you exhausted of doing so many stuff.” But no matter how hard they dishearten me, I still like to be a teacher because you can still manage to smile at the end of the day knowing that you have imparted not only knowledge from the books but also the wisdom of life to students. It may cause you physical, emotional and mental exhaustion but you cannot explain how happy and fulfilled you are and be a part of a social entity that helps mold minds to become better individuals. Teachers can truly help young mind to become better persons, educated and useful to become a good citizen. I have strong faith in the teaching profession for it brings out a better society ready to make a strong and independent republic.
